What to Expect at Your First Appointment

It is completely normal to feel some apprehension before your first appointment with a therapist. Because I am now an online-only therapist, all of our sessions will be virtual. We will use a secure, encrypted video conferencing platform for your session or, if preferred, we can conduct the session by phone.

Our first visit will be comprised largely of an assessment - basically, I will ask you questions that deal with different aspects of your life. I may ask you questions about your work life, your family of origin, and your history. I will then further assess what issues you are seeking help with. Uncovering the general idea of your current stressors is important because it will serve as a baseline for how we will move forward together. You and I will come up with a treatment plan together, and then I will open it up to you to ask me any questions you may have.

Forms are available for your convenience on the Forms page. You may print them and fill them out prior to your appointment and email them to me at your convenience. Additionally, if you have insurance please share that information with me by email before your session.

If you have any questions or want a more specific idea of what an initial appointment is like, please fill out the form on this page.

Diane has been instrumental in guiding me to profound healing. She has offered a safe and nurturing place to grieve, grow, and get past life’s difficulties with practical tools I use every day to usher me into peace. I am so grateful she’s met me along a path of increased awareness. I’ve never brought her pain she could not process, or confusion she could not lend clarity. That’s a precious gift in this world.
